Sahitya Akademi's 'Gramaloka' Celebrates Konkani Language and Culture in Belthangadi

In a vibrant literary event held at Lobo Motors premises in Belthangadi on Sunday, June 30, Sahitya Akademi, in collaboration with Manglurchi Motiyam Cultural Organisation, hosted 'Gramaloka'. The programme was inaugurated by Rev Fr Walter D'Mello, emphasizing the cultural significance of the Konkani language and its rich heritage in folklore and literature. Melvyn Rodrigues, Convenor of the Konkani Advisory Board at Sahitya Akademi, welcomed guests and outlined the Akademi's initiatives.
Local poets Robert D'Souza Madantyar, Flavia Albuquerque from Puttur, and Thelma Madta from Madantyar showcased their poems, while Vidya Nayak from Guruvayanakere presented Konkani children's songs. Apollin D'Souza and her team enthralled the audience with melodious Konkani lullabies, complemented by performances from Ronald Lobo, Ronald D'Souza, and Arvin D'Souza with Konkani songs.
Stany Bela, another member of the Konkani Advisory Board, moderated the event, and Alphonse Mendonsa Manglurchi Motiyam delivered the vote of thanks. The programme highlighted the essence of Konkani language and culture through poetry, music, and cultural reflections, promoting its significance and fostering community involvement in literary and cultural preservation.
